mr. spitler told us to take a look at your blog and i did because i'm really interested in things like this.
What you're doing is so beyond amazing. It seriously is. =]
I really want(ed) to build a school in Africa with Free the Children this summer but my dad refuses to let me go to Africa (yet).
I'm definatly going to go before/during/after college though.

Hi there,

Thanks for checking out the blog and for writing! I appreciate your comments.

Good for you for wanting to come to Africa and do a bit of good...there is so much need for people like yourself. What country does "Free the Children" operate in?

I really hope you get a chance to come. I know it sounds cliche, but it really is life changing!

And I never thought five years ago when I was at Starpoint that I would be in South Africa working in a township school! It can happen for you too!

If you get a chance, write to the students of Nyaluza on the AmasangoAmerica blog too. Thanks for writing!

Jason,

I saw your recent article in the Buffalo. I am always so impressed and so inspired as I read where life is taking you. You are a true teacher in all that the word means. May your students' success continue as they follow your guidance.

Free the Children operates in Kenya.
Everything about Africa just seems so amazing, I really want to go volunteer over there. I will, as soon as I can.
I've always wanted to be in the medical field and now i'm thinking about going to medical school and doing Doctors Without Borders. That would be cool.
And i will write to them. =]

hey,

cool about the free the children organization...though kenya doesnt sound like a particularly safe place to be at the moment...with all the election upheavel...but like i said, there are so many places on this continent that can use somebody with your spirit and passion! so, come! it will be a time you'll never forget. where do you want to go to university? you should try and study abroad in africa for a semester during university. that's what i did...and i am so glad i did!

Yeah, Kenya doesn't seem exactly safe at the moment, but let's hope things get better for them. And we would build the school in a small village of mostly women and children.
I do really want to come. :D I will, soon.
As for university, it changes often haha. It was Duke for a while but i'm not so sure about that anymore. My whole family has gone to the Ohio State University and that is where i'll probably end up going.
And i'm definatly going to study abroad. It's such an amazing opprutunity.
And uh, what exactly do you want me to say to students? haha. I'd love to write to them but I don't know what to say. XD

hey,

good! im glad you're looking into studying abroad. you'll love it! i promise.

now, write whatever you want to the kids. tell them about starpoint, tell them about your life, tell them about whatever....and ill give it to them to write back. it will take a couple days because they do write a bit more slowly than you or i would...but they'll write back. they'll love to hear from somebody who lives in "new york!"
